The BA (Hons.) English and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) <a href="https://www.nibm.lk/courses/degree/">degree</a>, awarded by the Coventry University is a modern, forward-looking course aimed at equipping students not just with ‘traditional’ English language, English Literature and linguistics subject knowledge and teaching skills, but also with the required awareness and digital literacies that will enable them to take advantages of the 21st century tools that enrich teaching and learning.The course gives students, opportunities to develop skills through authentic teaching practice and to become articulate, knowledgeable, self-aware and creative graduates who can reach the zenith in the field of Education and related areas. Through this course, students will also study teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP), for example English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Business English, Teaching Methodologies, Language Acquisition,&nbsp; teaching English to younger learners (primary and secondary school ages) and teaching English through Literature.Employability is embedded throughout the course. &nbsp;Upon completion of this degree, you will receive a qualification awarded by the<a href="https://www.coventry.ac.uk/"> Coventry University</a>.

BA (Hons) in English and TESOL

BA (Hons) English Studies,&nbsp;awarded by Coventry University&nbsp;is a course for students who are interested in both English Language and English Literature. This course concentrates more (though certainly not exclusively) on contemporary literatures and language use, and will give an insight into relationships ‘from the local to the global’. This involves a broad focus, including everything from regional literatures and varieties of English to Anglophone world literatures and World&nbsp;Englishes, in subjects such as Shakespeare today, colonial and postcolonial literatures, creative writing and English and globalisation. Employability is embedded throughout the course, which also includes English for business &nbsp;Upon completion of this degree, you will receive a qualification awarded by Coventry University.&nbsp;

Advanced Diploma in TESOL is a program for after A/L students (General English “B” pass or above) or for those who have successfully completed the Advanced Certificate in English or TESOL at NIBM or any other English language program of SLQF Level 2/ NVQ Level 4. The program will impart knowledge in the English language, grammar, syntax, vocabulary, and teaching methodology.English is widely used for cross-cultural communication both in writing and in speech. Thus the language, as a dynamic entity, acquires new words and linguistic structures in its day to day use amongst communities of different cultural origins and backgrounds. Further, as the language of the business world, English keeps on changing rapidly to keep up with technology and new, improved channels of communication. In such a context, the ability to effectively communicate in English while adapting to the norms of the business world has come to be of utmost importance. Moreover, teachers of English are now required to produce students who are not only sound in syntax and lexis of English, but who are also aware of the evolving nature of the language and have an appreciation for the entire culture behind the language.The program Advanced Diploma in TESOL will improve not only the English skills of the students, but also will give them a sound knowledge regarding Teaching Methodology, while preparing them to be better professionals in the field of Education. Moreover, the course will develop students’ analytical skills by motivating students to contemplate on, analyze, and find answers to issues related to the English language. Thus, the student will have gained both theoretical and practical knowledge to be competent English teachers by completing this course.&nbsp;
