National Institute of Business Management

National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) is the premier Business School in Sri Lanka. We keep abreast of global trends and constantly upgrade our products to suit today’s needs. The NIBM has been functioning for 55 years having established in 1968 under the purview of the Minis- try of Industries and Scientific Affairs in collabora- tion with the United Nations Development Program as an agency for the implementation of the programs of the ILO. It was subsequently incorpo- rated as the National Institute of Business Manage- ment by an Act of Parliament (The National Institute of Business Management Law No 23 of 1976). Certain amendments to this Act were brought in under Act No. 28 of 1991.

NIBM functioning as a statutory body under the Ministry of Education is an educational institution in the government sector. We are a self–sustained, internationally accepted, UGC recognised degree awarding institute. From 2009 onwards we won the Merit Award at the presentation of National Quality Awards and in addition, ISO – 9001-2008 stan- dards certificate has also been awarded to NIBM.

School of Computing and Engineering

The school of computing and engineering at NIBM is one of the premier schools which offers a wide array of computing and Engineering programs, catering to a spectrum of educational needs, from foundation courses to degrees. The School of Computing specialises in key disciplines such as Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Man- agement of Information Systems, and Multimedia, while School of Engineering provides programs in disciplines such as Mechatronics, IoT and Quantity Surveying, providing students with a well-rounded academic experience. In particular, these emerging fields in Engineering have become critical to modern advancements in preparing students for careers in multidisciplinary systems, highlighting hands-on projects and real-world problem solving. Over the years, the School of Computing and Engi- neering has earned a distinguished reputation for producing highly skilled professionals who have secured and ascended to leadership positions in the global and local tech arena. As the domain of Computing and Engineering continues to constant- ly evolve, the School of Computing and Engineering has remained at the forefront by evolving over the period by introducing cutting-edge disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things , Mecha- tronics and Data Science. Particularly, the school ensures that its curriculum aligns with the rapidly evolving demands of the tech and engineering industry. In addition, the school has successfully established solid partnerships connecting with leading IT companies to offer students industry-ori- ented training, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. Moreover, the creation of NEO Ventures, an entrepreneurial hub dedicated to nurture startups to foster innova- tion and job creation. Through Neo Ventures, students are empowered to develop their entrepre- neurial skills to actively contribute to the growth of the technology sector by generating new business opportunities.
